Aikey Brae is the most intact recumbent stone circle in Buchan, with five erect stones including the recumbent and east flanker, five fallen stones including the west flanker. Its a really special site, and great site to visit with children but not wheelchair accessible. There is parking for 1-2 cars at the start of the track up the hill to the monument. Be warned, if there has been heavy rain it can be muddy! Sadly, this site is often vandalised, with litter dropped, fires started and camping - this is a SCHEDULED MONUMENT!!! That means that camping, fire raising and vandalism is ILLEGAL. Oh, and littering is selfish & ignorant. This is a fantastic piece of our prehistoric past, please treat it with the respect it deserves (and if you can't, then please stay at home!)
